It is one of the more important sweet water reserves of the continent. It constitutes the biggest protected area of the Argentina. It is the home of an important diversity of fauna, which transforms it into the natural unique paradise into its kind. It is at present, one of the more important refuges of wild life of the world. It shelters inside its territory to 4 declared natural species provincial monuments: little wolf of river, aguará guazú, deer of the Pampas and deer of the marshes. It possesses both species of cayman of the Argentina: the black crocodile and the overo. Its ornithological richness is represented by 350 different species of birds. Esteros del Iberá constitute the epicentre of the Reserve, where there are realized incomparable watchs of wild fauna.
